Let’s Play

I cannot think of a more beautiful experience than that first, clean, fresh snowfall of winter!

It snowed in Victoria last night.  It was Christmas Eve. We didn’t hear sleigh bells in the snow but we did hear and see children playing and laughing with abandon.

Some people find a sense of wonder and awe through their philosophical or religious beliefs.  Others find it through a walk in the forest; or act of human compassion.

For me, the best place to experience wonder in this world is to be the child within.  Explore  without preconceptions; accept love for what it is; give joy to others without expectation…. and go play in the snow!

  1. Beautiful photo, Kim! I agree; it is the child in us that embodies that wordless experience of wonder in the moment, which is always available to us. In this we might also feel a sense of reverence for simply being. While some describe this as a spiritual or religious experience, I don’t think it matters. Either way it’s just as valid and real.

In my email today was this quote, which seems to underscore what you are saying:

“Holiness comes wrapped in the ordinary. There are burning bushes all around you. Every tree is full of angels. Hidden beauty is waiting in every crumb.” ~ MACRINA WIEDERKEHR

    Merry Christmas!
