Tools & Resources for Community Developers
Information, tools and tips are so readily available — but sometimes it helps to see how a tool is used. My approach uses visual tools & techniques and I have applied them across the project spectrum from conception to completion. Developed independently and collaboratively the following tools & resources have been used for community visioning, values identification, program planning, and developmental evaluation.

Using provocative questions and co-creativity, the presenters adapted a traditional Native American practice, called KIVA, as a way to challenge us to “learn, listen, critique, and speak” about how our work in the field of community development is succeeding (or failing) in creating a better world.

How often do we reflect upon our own experiences as evaluation practitioners? Why are evaluators’ reflections important? How can we integrate real-time client learning into coaching interventions while still maintaining the integrity of an evaluation exercise? These and other questions were addressed through a developmental evaluation (DE) case study on supporting newcomer refugees.
